A Beginner's Guide to Speciality Tea

Where to Begin?

From bright and grassy greens to rich and malty blacks, speciality tea offers a huge range of flavours to explore.

Black teas such as English Breakfast are full-bodied and familiar, while Green teas like Japanese Sencha tend to be fresh, vibrant and grassy. White teas are lighter and more delicate and oolong teas offer plenty of variety, ranging from floral and creamy to deeper, roasted styles. Herbal infusions such as chamomile and peppermint are naturally caffeine free and offer something different again.

If you’re not sure which direction to take, our discovery collections and starter kits are an easy way to explore. Each brings together a hand picked selection in smaller amounts, so you can try several styles before settling on a favourite.

Loose Leaf or Teabags?

Exploring speciality tea doesn’t mean you have to commit to loose leaf. Many of our single origin teas are also available as biodegradable Triune™ teabags, using the same quality leaf as our loose leaf caddies.

Teabags are a convenient way to enjoy great tea with minimal fuss, while loose leaf gives you more flexibility to adjust the amount of tea and brewing time to suit your taste.
